While creativity is a big focus of our curriculum here at Creative Learning Arts school, we also understand that creativity isn’t and shouldn’t be limited to just the classroom. Creative children will find a way to express themselves whenever inspiration strikes, be it at home, in the bathtub or on a car ride. With this in mind, in part one of this blog series, we will look at a handful of ways that you can help ensure your child’s creative success.

Encourage Your Child’s Creativity

Arguably the most important thing to be aware of when trying to ensure your child’s creative success is simple—be supportive of your child. Creativity is something that you cannot control, and knowing that it flows naturally from most people makes it even more difficult to fight creative urges. Without your support, your creative child will find themselves frustrated in knowing that their parents are indifferent towards or not supportive of their choice of creative expression. Children most especially need the support of those around them, and knowing that their parents are encouraging and supportive of their desires to be creative will not only help encourage them to create more, but it will also make them excited to share what they create with Mom and Dad, eager to see what you have to say about their hard work.

Give Them Space

Creativity is something that comes rather naturally to most people, regardless of age. While you can never know when your child will be in the mood to create something, one of the best ways to help their creativity is to give them space when they’re in their creative mode. While some children love to be around their family or friends when they are creating, few people love having someone breathe down their neck while they’re deep in their process. Providing your child with positive reinforcement and encouragement is great, but try to give them some space when they are in the middle of their process. Not only will it provide them with an atmosphere that’s more conducive to creating, they’ll also be able to focus and concentrate on all the ideas that are going through their head at that moment.

Attend a Bethesda Daycare and Preschool

Those are just two examples of things that you can do to encourage your creative child. At Creative Learning Arts School, creativity is what we do best. It is our goal to provide your child with a learning environment that not only helps them reach their maximum potential academically, but also encourages their creative side, allowing them to explore a variety of creative expression forms. We will continue this in part two of our blog series, but until then, to learn more about our Bethesda daycare and preschool, contact us today.
